Engineers working with the SSL 4000 G-Series console quickly realised that its master bus compressor could glue tracks together in the final mix like nothing else, and it is equally at home on drum buses, overheads, vocals, backing vocals and piano. Licensed and validated by Solid State Logic, this emulation uses the original’s feedback-based design, which sounds smoother than the more common feedforward design, and includes the sidechain and fade function plus analog character with subtle hiss and harmonic distortion, or a pristine digital alternative. Mix and Trim controls and production-ready presets by Chris Lord-Alge, Steve Lillywhite, Dave Pensado and a dozen other top engineers speed up your work.
