Center separates the phantom centre channel from the sides, giving you control over already-mixed stereo tracks.

Widen or narrow the stereo image, change the balance between centre and sides, or raise and lower lead vocals, which are usually mixed to centre – even without access to the multitrack session – while the Low control preserves the level of kick and bass in the centre. In mastering, Center expands the stereo image by raising the side levels, optionally adding punch and high frequencies, and for vinyl it pushes the low frequencies to the centre while keeping the highs wide. You can also remix drum loops by distributing punch and EQ separately, open up space in wide pads for centred sounds, and shape bus effects, for example a super-wide reverb that keeps out the kick.
