Butch Vig Vocals puts the vocal production approach of the producer behind Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day and Garbage into one plugin.

At its heart is the Focus feature, which combines mid-band shaping and compression to emphasise the front end of vocal notes while heavily compressing the sustain. Two parallel saturation types – tube and solid-state – with filtering range from sweet thickening to crushing distortion and lo-fi, while the Mid Dip, Lows, Presence and Air controls are pre-tuned to the “magic” frequencies Butch Vig found when reviewing his original sessions. An unobtrusive de-esser and flexible compression complete the chain, and 81 presets by Butch Vig, Chris Lord-Alge and Ross Hogarth are included; presets for guitar, bass, drums and piano show that it works on instruments too.
