A bundle of three cinematic Mntra instruments: the dark sounds of Orakle X, the string textures of Arca and the sacred sounds of Atma. The Cinematic Bundle brings together three cinematic sound suites from Mntra, all running in the MNDALA 2 engine. Orakle X delivers dark sounds of rare instruments from around the world, Arca the expressiveness of string instruments from...

A bundle of the three Mntra instruments Caprakan, Huracan and UDW X, inspired by the ceremonial sound of the ancient Americas, from temple flute to death whistle. The Ancient Echoes Bundle brings together instruments inspired by the music of the ancient Americas, each built from rare sources such as clay flutes, earthenware ocarinas and teponaztli drums, captured in detail...

A virtual instrument tracing the transformation of metal instruments in Colombia, with metal percussion, valved brass, a pipe organ and nature ambiences. Oro is the second instalment in Mntra’s location-based Portals series, created in Bogotá, home to half of the team, as a reinterpretation of the legend of El Dorado and of what precious metals mean in Colombia. Many metal...

A hybrid electro-acoustic synthesiser that merges the raw distortion of tube-driven circuits with the innate resonance of physical objects. For Vespera Pro, every oscillation of a tube-driven modular synth was re-amped through a vibrational speaker transducer into diverse media, including drums with various skins, metal springs and the sympathetic vibrations of resonant...

A virtual instrument created with artist SNAKES OF RUSSIA that makes his dark, apocalyptic sonic palette of modular synths, heavy analogue subs and gritty drums playable. Tenebrae is the first entry in Mntra’s Artist Series, created with LA-based artist Joseph Holiday, alias SNAKES OF RUSSIA: complex modular synth patches, heavy analogue subs and gritty drum samples, as well...

A contemporary virtual instrument rooted in millennia-old practices and instruments from both the north and south of India. Naada, the Sanskrit term for sound or tone, was created under the guidance of violinist Sangeeta Shankar, teacher of Mntra founder Brian D’Oliveira: in Chennai, Mntra recorded some of India’s finest musicians on the nadaswaram, sarangi and sarod, then...

A hybrid electro-acoustic synthesizer that merges the raw distortion of tube-driven circuits with the natural resonance of physical objects. For Vespera, the distorted signals of a tube-driven modular synth were re-amped through a vibrational speaker transducer and resonated through drums with various skins, metal springs and resonant instruments such as a rare giant Indian...

A virtual instrument that combines the crystalline sound of pyramids made from pure quartz with modern sound design, from gentle ambiences to electroacoustic soundscapes. Made from pure quartz with ratios inspired by the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the instruments produce transparent tones that can be shaped through movement, rhythmic beating and other vibrating sources, and...

A reverb and delay plug-in that, as an “Animistic Performance Reverb”, responds dynamically to your playing and creates an inspiring dialogue between input and output. BOREALIS is MNTRA’s first effect plug-in and, inspired by guitar pedals and Eurorack effects, offers 14 time-based algorithms: multi-dimensional convolution reverbs sampled in epic and unusual spaces from a...

A collection of vibrant electric textures sampled from analogue and digital synthesizers, featuring Pripyat, Galactron and Vespera Pro. The Synth Bundle brings together instruments that MNTRA sampled from its favourite analogue and digital synthesizers, paired with explorations in electromagnetic radiation and processed through guitar pedals, tape and Eurorack modular....

A virtual instrument featuring percussion, marimbas, modular synths and drum machines re-amped through the towering Picó sound systems of Barranquilla on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. It began at La Hacienda Creative’s studio in Quebec with recordings of hollow-bodied wooden drums, marimbas, hand-played African percussion, hand-built modular lines and electric plucked strings,...

A percussive virtual instrument recorded in a decommissioned grain silo whose multi-storey concrete chambers create a natural reverb unlike any studio. The sources were massive metal sheets, interconnected resonating staircases, ventilation shafts and unusual metallic structures within the silo, and every strike travelled through several storeys of concrete and metal,...
